A Brooklyn Legacy Rooted in Art
Raised in Brooklyn in a family bursting with creativity, Phoenixx was destined for the arts. Her uncle introduced her to classical and gospel music at the age of three, sparking a lifelong passion. Her mother, a lover of literature, her father, a musician and songwriter, and her grandmother, a poet, all played key roles in nurturing her expansive musical and lyrical knowledge. "It was a part of my DNA," Phoenixx says, reflecting on her family’s artistic roots. "Knowing the origin of what I was doing helped me develop a deep respect for music." At an early age, Phoenixx’s undeniable talent was evident. She attended the Public School Repertory Company in Manhattan, where she not only honed her skills but also met key influencers in her career, including Wardell Malloy of BMI, who discovered her early potential. By age 15, Phoenixx had already begun a mentorship with R&B/Soul singer-songwriter Edwin "Lil Eddie" Serrano, whose impressive résumé includes working with Usher, Janet Jackson, and Nelly Furtado. Serrano helped Phoenixx merge her love of poetry with music, propelling her to create songs with deeper emotional resonance.
Cutting Her Teeth in New York’s Music Scene
